Mike Holman of the MoneySmartsBlog.com fame recently published his first book: The RESP Book. I’m going to spare you a critical review nuancing what I liked and didn’t like because I don’t think it’s going to mean much. Here’s what you need to know: This is a very straight forward book on Registered Education Savings Plans and the information is solid. If you have kids and are interested in helping them out with funding their higher education: get the book. Don’t ask questions, just plunk down the $15.99 to Amazon.ca and get the book. In my opinion, you won’t regret it.
This book fills quite a gap in the Canadian marketplace as there have not been any books (that I could see) on RESPs until this one.
It’s a light read at 115 pages (which I think is ideal), and that is more than enough to convey the ins and outs you need to know. You can be an RESP expert in only a few days.
I’m not going to give away my copy. I’m keeping it in my reference library. But, as mentioned above, at $15.99 you’ll be getting a great return on your money if you decide to buy it. If not for yourself, might I suggest it as a gift for anyone who is welcoming a new child into their family?
