Filming of Million Dollar Neighbourhood (airing on The Oprah Winfrey Network in January) wrapped up recently, and after putting 100 families through hell, and also after being adopted by the community, I wanted to put on an appreciation event for them. I rented a racetrack and a racecar and was going to give everyone a lap as a passenger. Unfortunately, it rained like the Dickens.
Since the racecar only had slicks (tires with no tread whatsover), it would’ve been like driving on ice since the grooves on regular tires act to channel the water between the tire and road away. With no tread, there is no channeling away of water, and you get what is known as “aquaplaning” or “hydroplaning”. That means the tire is actually riding on a thin layer of water, not the road. Think surfing.
To make the best out of a bad situation, I used my street car for the day. One person asked me to drive his new BMW to see what it could do. Brave dude.
You can tell from the facial reactions (and foul language – you’ve been warned!) throughout the video that he was instantly regretting this decision.
NSFW for occasional bad language!

Looks like fun!! I had the amazing experience of doing two hot laps this past summer with the great Ron Fellows in his signature Camaro pace car at Mosport…no offense Preet but I think Fellows might have you beat at this particular (ie. HIS) track! Nevertheless this was a very cool gift for the families whose lives you ravaged in the name of good tv :) .

None taken! You won’t find many bigger fans of Ronnie than myself. I had the privilege of making him a latte once or twice. Long story…. lol
