If you are new to WhereDoesAllMyMoneyGo.com, every Friday I run a post called “A Lap Of The Blogs” which provides links to articles I found interesting and think that others may want to read for themselves. I also include some commentary on what’s going on in my personal life and a weekly “racing video” since my former life was in the auto-racing industry. The name “Lap of the Blogs” is in reference to “A Lap Of The Gods” which is an old video series which chronicled on-board footage of the world’s greatest F1 drivers lapping various racetracks from around the world.
First a correction to yesterday’s post on options – I incorrectly stated that you wouldn’t exercise an in-the-money option if it was less than your purchase price. I meant to say you wouldn’t make a profit unless the option was in-the-money by more than the original option price – post has been amended if you want to take a look. Also note the comments from Mark Wolfinger – an authority on options trading – thanks Mark for catching my error! :) Anyways…
Many of you know that I am in L.A. for the better part of this week on a due diligence trip to vet Dimensional Fund Advisors. My brother also happens to live here so Fiona and I have taken the opportunity to take a mini-vacation and we are here together. Lucky girl has tickets to the Jimmy Kimmel show on one night that I have a dinner function – but I’m not too broken up about it. It’s not often one gets to pick the brains of a few future Nobel Laureates… :)

This Week’s Racing Video
If you only watch one of my weekly motorsports videos, make it this one! This video highlights how crazy the old rally fans used to be (some still are, actually) – particularly how they stand right in the way of the rally cars which are approaching at hundreds of kilometres per hour. The video is about 3 1/2 minutes long and towards the end there is a fantastic clip of on-board footage that you have to see to believe.

Rally
I was fortunate to see a Group B race once as a kid in Europe and while in a refugee camp in Italy, I met a guy who claimed that a spoiler from a Audi Quattro S1 had cut off two of his fingers.

It is often reported that during the 1986 Rally of Portugal, he drove his Delta S4 at the Estoril track, and recorded a lap time which would have qualified him in sixth position at that year’s Formula One Portuguese Grand Prix.[5][6] Eddie Jordan, in whose Formula Three team Toivonen made a few guest appearances, claimed he was certain that Toivonen would have become a winner in Formula One and compared his performances to Ayrton Senna. Too bad both of these great drivers died before their time.
Both Toivonen and Senna died young, killed in crashes resulting from their uber exciting yet tremendously dangerous driving style.
